Our family sensed God’s call on our lives back in 2008 to use our careers in medicine to minister to people who live in the “Third World” setting, outside of easy access to medical care. We have been working toward this reality ever since and now know that the location will be in rural Nepal. Jeff is a clinical hospital pharmacist with eight years previous experience as an ED/ICU nurse. Kim is a veterinarian currently co-running the Union Gospel Mission’s Veterinary Clinic for the homeless and low-income of the Spokane area and working in shelter medicine. We have two boys, 8 and 7 years old who love Nepal where we are currently serving.

There are many organizations that we have partnered with to make this complex work a reality. These organizations include: World Venture as our U.S. based sending agency; International Nepal Fellowship, an organization that has served the spiritual and physical needs of the Nepali people through medical ministry since 1952; MedSend will be supporting us in student loan repayment and medical counseling while in the field; We will also be loosely affiliated with Nick Simons Institute (NSI) of Nepal for rural health care training.

We will begin working at Tansen Mission Hospital establishing a “residency type program” to aid in educating Nepali pharmacists in the role of clinical pharmacy. Nepali pharmacists have expressed the need for further education in the clinical application of their profession. This setting will also serve as the stable ground for further language and culture learning, as well as growing in the knowledge and understanding of the medical needs of Nepal. After the establishment of this program, we look forward to progressing into a ministry that will work with rural people who are motivated and equip to be trained in first aid response and proper distribution of medications.
