Member Bio

Arianna Shirk is a pediatric consultant at AIC Kijabe Hospital in Kijabe, Kenya. Pursuing a life long dream to train the next generation of doctors in Africa, she completed her BS in Perspectives on Poverty and Health in 2002. After completing her Pediatric Residency and Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship, she was accepted into the Post Residency Program with Samaritan's Purse and moved to Kijabe in fall of 2014 as one of 2 pediatric emergency medicine trained doctors in the country. Along with her husband, a photographer, and 2 daughters Madeline and Annabelle, she works daily alongside her Kenyan colleagues to teach interns and residents the joys and sorrows of practicing pediatrics in a limited resource setting and is in the process of setting up the first Pediatric Emergency and Critical Care Fellowship in East Africa.
