I am currently a pediatric hospitalist in Dallas, Texas, but have been praying and preparing for longterm missions all my life. My family and my close friend Rachel's family are preparing to move to Conakry, Guinea, to live and work in the community there. Rachel and I hope to partner with the local academic pediatric community to improve their pediatric practices (especially in the areas of acute care and cardiology) -- but we will see how God leads us when we get there (our plan could certainly change)! First and foremost our hope is to share Christ with our friends, neighbors, and colleagues there, and to support the local church.
My husband and I have 2 girls (ages 2 and 4) and one more baby due in April. Rachel and her husband have a 1 year-old son.
We hope to depart the US no later than Jan 2018 to do language training in France, then go directly to Guinea from there. As we prepare, I am hungry to connect with missionaries who have been abroad longterm with their families, for advice about every aspect of moving abroad for missions.
