My wife, Suzanne and I started work in Kenya, February 2007. This beginning has lead to a remarkable last 10 years. When we began, we were interested is helping with waterborne issues at a college. Since that time the work has gone to projects in most countries of East and Central Africa.

The biosand water filter has been to tool used to change lives of thousands. By eliminating waterborne pathageons a big step had been taken to continued improved health.

There is no way we could have done this on our own. Our method is to train groups in communities how to teach others about the improtance of good hygiene and saniation. To make this effort self sustaining each group learns to manufacture, install and sell biosand water filters. With the multiplying efforts of so many groups the numbers of filters installed and operating in households soon added up to thousands. By being self sustaining, incomes are developed. The results of families being able to care well for themselves has been a true reward. The skills learned by the projects have lead to other community developments cement work, sales, sewing, improved equipment for farming.

One group has done so well that they have been able to build a community medical center. With only a small amount of help from World Vision, and InFocus Pure Water they now have a certified facility.

Our mission focus is clean water treatment at the individual household, schools, medical facilities, orphanages. We are interested in working with other organizations that may find water treatment of value in their planning.

We are currently working on the design of a large community agriculture vocational center, in Kenya. This center will include a permanent location to teach hygiene, sanitation and household water treatment. In addition a center to train basic medical skills. This is a project of Rotary International, and our organization.
