I'm currently the staff doc at San Francisco City Impact Health and Wellness Center, the medical ministry of City Impact Church.
The church is planted in the Tenderloin district, which is approx 1 square mile with 37,000 residents living in 500+ low income apartment buildings. Much of the city's 6,000 homeless also congregate here.
The church has been around for 30 years and also runs a rescue mission, thrift shop, a 100 student K-8 school, a discipleship home (live-in rehab), and a school of ministry for college students.
The story behind City Impact is quite amazing and if you're a reader, you can check out Chasing God by Roger Huang.
Or, if you'd like to visit SF, we can give you a tour and house you for really cheap. Shoot me an email with GMHC on the subject line at doink.doink@gmail :)
