I am in the middle of my surgical residency at the University of Southern California and have completed 3/5 years. I have taken a year off to pursue an MPH at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. I am interested in pursuing long-term medical missions. For now, I plan to do this as a single female surgeon. I am currently exploring my options in Public Health, and allowing my experience this year to shape my vision as well.
My relationship with God and the opportunity to practice my faith guides the decisions I make in my life. He has created paths and opportunities that wouldn't have been available to me without His divine intervention. I believe the same will happen with my career after training, and am leaving it open to His direction.
I am looking for mentors who would be able to help me understand the challenges of long-term medical missions, and help me to prepare for a possible future as a career missionary. I would particularly be interested in corresponding with women in missions, as I believe we have a unique role and experience in this world.
