I grew up in church and grew up in a family who dedicated their lives to God and the Bible. From very young I heard the story of Jesus Christ. My first opportunity to accept God was in a family Bible study at age 7 approx. My father asked me if I knew I was going to heaven if I died that night. He told me the only way was through Jesus. And he told me I couldn't go to heaven by myself because I was a sinner. That night I prayed with my father to accept Jesus into my life. As I grew and listened more on Sunday mornings and at youth groups, I understood more and more about my position as a sinner and Jesus' position as my Savior. Eternal life is given through Christ and I am given this grace because God loves me dearly. I will live to obey God's commands as I am forgiven because Jesus paid my price of condemnation and death on the cross.
I have chosen to study and make my career in medicine. I am very excited in investing in people's lives in this way. I also have seen and understood that as Christians, we are to love and serve like Jesus did. So in my heart I know that missions trips offer this to people of the world. I also feel like I don't need to simply serve on trips, which I hope to be incorporated in events here at home, but have already been part of missions organizations and enjoy this calling too. I feel like my life will always include missions trips on a annual basis. Hopefully, I can get to a place in my life where being in mission is my life and working in the US is a means to do so.
