Dr. Harold Paul Adolph was born in China to Dr. and Mrs. Paul Adolph, who were American medical missionaries serving with the China Inland Mission. In 1950, Harold enrolled in Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL. There he met his future wife, Bonnie Jo Adelsman. He later matriculated at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and underwent a general surgery residency in the Canal Zone of Panama. This was a locale for training that proved to be excellent preparation for the mission field.
As a Board Certfied Surgeon, and fellow of the Americna College of Surgeons & International College of Surgeons, he went in 1966 to Ethiopia with his wife and two children as a medical missionary of the Sudan Interior Mission now called Serving in Mission or SIM. They served in Ethiopia, Liberia, Niger West Africa, and many other countries in short term surgical service. For the last 12 years they have been involved in building a 200 bed mission hospital in south central Ethiopia. It is one of 11 PAACS hospitals in Africa for the training of African Christian surgeons for Africa. By the end of 2014 we expect to have an expatriate staff of 14 specialists.
