I've been a Certified Nurse Midwife since June 2015, with a 6 year background in labor and delivery nursing. I also taught as an adjunct clinical nursing instructor for maternity at Utica College for a couple years in the past. I'm about to start the Doctorate in Nursing Practice through Liberty University this Fall 2016. I will focus my studies on developing a Nurse Midwifery education program that trains midwives with a whole person perspective of care and prepares them to serve overseas as missionaries when they are finished, if desired. Midwives are greatly needed across the globe to decrease infant and maternal mortality rates- inclusive of many "closed" countries to the gospel. Midwives offer a unique and trusting relationship to women that allows the communication of the gospel first through service and medical care, then through words. My dream is to launch a program at Liberty University. I'm also currently applying through SIM for a 1 year stint as a midwife overseas, hopefully departing summer 2019 at the completion of the doctorate program. I have been to the Philippines, Indonesia and Ghana short term as a nursing or midwifery student in the past. I'm a whole-hearted follower of Jesus Christ and desire to see many people come into a personal relationship with Him!
