God has been gently paving the way as he prepares and transforms my heart to be willing to serve in medical missions long term in Latin America. In high school, I made 2 short term trips to the Dominican Republic which opened my eyes to missions, Spanish and other cultures. In college, I worked for a summer in an orphanage in Tegucigalpa which gave me a heart for orphans and children. As a political science major with a concentration in Latin America, I began to learn about the poor and community developement. I spent time learning Spanish and became fluent after studying in Caracas for a year. I look back in amazement at how God blessed me with the ability to travel, study medicine and public health in preparation for serving him overseas. Since finishing residency in Pediatrics, my work has focused on rural, underserved and Spanish speaking patients. I am currently working as a pediatric hospitalist and waiting for God to clarify when and where he is calling my family to serve.
