Dr. Marcia A. Nayak started her career in international health and development as a nurse in a clinic for Hispanic migrant farm-workers. Through opportunities to study and work with community members, nurses, midwives, and physicians globally (Thailand, Guatemala) and locally (Chicago, Baltimore), she gained a deep appreciation for Christ-centered community health and development.
Working in an urban university medical center from 2000-2012, she refined motivational interviewing and clinical skills, and developed a greater passion for wholistic health-promotion and disease-prevention.
Dr. Nayak completed her Master’s degree in Community, Public-Health Nursing in 2006, and her PhD in Nursing Science with a Global Health and Participatory Action Research focus in August, 2009, at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Nayak serves with Medical Ambassadors International as Women's Cycle of Life International Coordinator. Medical Ambassadors International is committed to equipping women and communities for Christ-centered, wholistic health and development. Dr. Nayak works closely with passionate and dedicated teams around the world to share the love of Christ, and to promote long-term spiritual, physical, relational, and financial health and locally-owned development for women, their families, and communities.
She thanks God for her husband, Dr. Zachary S. Nayak, an Internal Medicine and Pediatric physician graduate of Johns Hopkins, who prayerfully supports and encourages her. Together, they share a deep passion for wholistic, God-glorifying health and development ministry among urban and global communities.
Her current prayer and 'life-verse' is John 3:30 "HE must increase; I must decrease".
