Member Bio
I was born and raised in Ankara, Turkey. My parents were church-planting missionaries. Around 13 years of age, I began reading the Bible for myself and found that the Christ my parents moved to Turkey to preach about was actually the living and true God. I went to Wheaton College where I studied Biology as a major and Bible/Theology as a minor. I went on a medical mission trip during my junior summer to the ELWA hospital in Monrovia, Liberia -- yes, the same one currently being overwhelmed by the Ebola crisis. While there I discovered my passion for medical missions. I applied to medical school during my senior year in college but declined to attend so that I could marry my high-school sweetheart from Turkey, Caitlin Wickwire. We spent a year living in Texas near her family where she earned her masters in education from Texas A&M and then we moved to Chicago where I am in my 3rd year of medical school.
Caitlin and I both share a vision to use our training to further Christ's kingdom internationally. We do not yet know where we will go, but are generally interested in Muslim nations in and around the Middle-East.
