Three major truths stood out to me through this experience: 1) our God is the God of the Harvest 2) medical clinics are superb modalities for sharing the Good News and 3) I definitely have been entrusted ten talents (Parable of the Talents). Amidst the suffering & modern-day slavery, the need for the Gospel is evident. People are not good nor bad apart from Christ, rather we are DEAD! On the first few days of the trip I felt pressure to share the Gospel and to be involved in leading others to Christ. However, through Scripture studied during the week and by the examples set by our leaders, I grew in a Biblical understanding of my role. Throughout the week, the leaders of our team clothed our efforts in prayer, asking God to send us into His harvest. He promises, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Luke 10:2). I learned and experienced that God has called us to be people who join in the work He is already doing (“His harvest”), and then learned from Paul that God has enabled us to both plant seeds, and to water seeds (through the Holy Spirit). Then, God emphasized to me that it is His job to take over and make the seeds grow (1 Cor. 3:6)! This removed pressure I felt in my heart. Early in the week, after seeing many patients who do not know the Lord, I prayed to ask God to allow me to play a small part in advancing His Kingdom, even if it just meant handing the evangi-cube (which has pictures useful for sharing the Gospel) to someone who would share the Good News to a soul in need of Christ. God answered my prayer through Mr. B, the last patient God sent to me on the final day. God had been working in Mr B.’s life before-hand, and Mr. B wanted to hear about the Gospel. I handed the evangi-cube to Dr. Boden, who shared the Gospel using Scripture he had memorized, largely from Romans. Mr. B decided to openly and willingly accepted Christ of his
