Ruby Dunlap

Dr. Ruby Dunlap, [email protected], is Professor of Nursing and has taught community health nursing at Belmont for 19 years. She spent 10 years of her childhood in East Africa and has coordinated community health nursing student work with refugee families in Nashville each semester for cross-cultural and international perspectives on health and healthcare. She completed a Fulbright Fellowship to Uganda where she taught graduate nursing courses in 2009/2010 and returned to Uganda in September of 2011 as well as 2012 to teach a four week graduate module to two cohorts of Ugandan nurses. She also takes Belmont nursing students to Geneva, Switzerland, for three weeks each May to study public health from a global perspective with learning sessions at agencies such as the WHO, Federation of the Red Cross, and the International Council of Nursing. In addition to teaching nursing at Belmont University, Dr. Dunlap is a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner and makes assessment home visits for members of Cigna-Healthspring Medicare as her clinical practice in gerontology.
