Ruth Carrico

Ruth Carrico PhD RN, is an Associate Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. With more than thirty years in healthcare, Dr. Carrico specializes in infectious diseases prevention, including primary prevention through immunization. Dr. Carrico is an author, speaker, researcher, and clinician known world wide for her work in infection prevention and control. At present, Dr. Carrico is a advisor to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as part of the Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC), the committee that develops national policy and guidelines regarding infection prevention. She is also a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellow and a board member of the National Foundation of Infectious Diseases. Dr. Carrico is the clinical director for the University of Louisville's Vaccine and International Health and Travel Center, a full service travel medicine clinic.
