Hey, I'm Sarah.
I graduated from Anderson University in Anderson, IN in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. That same year, I began serving as a RN at the Addison Jo Blair Cancer Care Center at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY. I work with children undergoing treatment for cancer, hematological disorders, and renal disorders requiring dialysis and/or kidney transplantation. I am a certified pediatric chemotherapy/biotherapy provider and am trained in pediatric bone marrow transplantation.
My husband and I were married in May 2013 and he began pursuing a master of arts in intercultural studies from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY in September 2013. Together, we hope to provide educational and community development to families in at-risk communities.
In November 2014, my husband and I moved into an apartment at the top of a barn in the middle of a primarily Hispanic trailer park in Shelbyville, KY. We are seeking to build relationships, enhance our Spanish language skills, and work towards unity and understanding as we hope to see the Gospel transform our community.
My goal is to enhance both my language and my nursing practice to use it to further the Kingdom of God through medical missions to Spanish-speaking communities.
