The earthquake of 2010 left 315,000 dead Haitians. I went down with 35 people from Evangel Christian Church to provide medical aid. While there we had a revival and visited many Christian orphanages. I went back 6 months later to rebuild a hospital that had fallen in. The hospital sees 150 patients a day for a fee of $1 each, and they can break even, with all the volunteers.
Before that I was in Russia/Ukraine/Belarus. Christian groups were forming and needed building for worship/doctors/alcohol rehab/soup kitchens/ medicine & clothing distribution. But a big buildings can cost a million dollars . I was part of a group that shipped pole barn kits. They cost less than $10,000 and can be erected in 1 - 2 weeks. After shipping a few kits, local Christians formed a business and went all over the Ukraine making pole barns out of local lumber. The last I heard (2 years ago) they had constructed 26 Christian buildings so far.
In Mexico I went to Warez to build an orphanage for Youth With a Mission. The present building was adobe (made from dirt) and was falling in. Street kids are everywhere, abandon my parents who could not afford them.
I went with CAP to an area east of Berea KY to build homes for low income families. I also went to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The lady we built the house for was crying on the local TV station saying she could see Jesus thru the workers. She was a wonderful cook (chicken gumbo, seafood gumbo
