This is a story more about our journey here, to GHMC 2014, than a specific mission trip or field. I apologize if it doesn't fit the purpose of this section exactly.

My story began 15 years ago when I went on my first trip to S. America. As a fiery teenager I was excited to conquer the world for Christ right there and then, but a long-term overseas missionary gave me the advice to purse a field of specialty to offer practical help on the field alongside the Gospel. From that point forward I pursed a degree in medicine and completed my training as a Physician Assistant in 2008. Since that time my wife and I have asked, prayed and sought the will and direction of the Lord. We have attempted to be faithful with all that we have been given Here. Whether that be my wife's passion and work with IJM, service in our local church, outreach to refugees, raising 3 children, or the day to day grind of work and life...our underlying desire has been to be faithful with what He has put our hand to do right now.

Now, we are at a point where we have been on several short-term trips over the years (1-12 wks). I have worked in dermatology, urgent care and most recently ear, nose and throat. I feel confident in my practical medical training and the years that we have spent being faithful servants here. Now we ask the Lord to guide and direct and lead the next part of the journey. We do not know if that is long-term, short-term or supportive in nature, but we are excited to come to the the Global Missions Health Conference and be encouraged about what God is doing around the globe and see what part He is asking us to play.

By grace,
Dan and Kali Johnston
