I was hit by a fully loaded semi-trailer on May 7, 2007... all three lanes of highway traffic came to an abrupt halt and I knew the semi was a few car lengths behind me. When I looked in my rearview mirror, all I could see was grey hair and I knew I had about four seconds to prepare for the crash.
GOD PUT THE MOST PEACEFUL CALM OVER ME AND TOLD ME TO TUCK MY CHIN AND FOLD MY ARMS ACROSS MY CHEST. The semi hit me so hard that the seat of my SUV came off the track and was leaning against the second row of seats... just three feet from the semi engine that had now plowed into my vehicle. As the numbness and tingling in my neck and both arms diminished over the next five minutes, I stared through the sunroof as I talked to God. I said "Ok God, I just witnessed your miracle, obviously You have me here for a reason. Tell me what You want me to do and I promise I will do it."
The next week at church, I joined the local orphan ministry and soon after that, I was on my way to Kenya for a medical-surgical mission with KenyaRelief.Org.
I know why God poured His miraculous grace and mercy on me on May 7, 2007... because He had work for me to do. I am know honored to say that I have led seven teams of surgeons, nurses, family medicine, surgical technologists, anesthesia providers and a pharmacist with KenyaRelief.Org. We generally treat 300-500 medicine and 70-80 surgical patients per team and they are the most soul-filling experiences of my lifetime. When you give so much of yourself to change another's life, you receive soo much more in return and we will continue to do this work for the rest of our lives!!
KenyaRelief.Org is preparing to build a 300 bed mission hospital to serve the 2 MILLION Kenyans in Southwest Kenya without access to medical care.
