My husband and I have been involved in medical missions since 1984, when we spent two weeks in Manaus, Brazil. Since then we have been on a variety of 1 - 3 week medical trips in Mexico, South America, and Africa. We have also worked independently for several months at a time in Africa and Asia. We lived for 5 years in a remote Islamic/Traditional area of Ghana in West Africa, working with a Ghanaian-run Christian Clinic, from 1999 - 2004. We are currently gathering an evidence base for improvised dressings so that we can develop safe, effective, and sustainable wound care methods to integrate into our program for teaching village health workers.
