My husband and I founded It's Our Mission: Period! after serving several years in African countries, most often in Nigeria and Kenya. Addressing the challenges of sanitation and personal hygiene has been our focus since 2012. We train women and girls in making their own supplies that are washable and reusable, thereby alleviating the damage that disposable products are currently having on the environment and sanitation systems there. A grassroots effort in the US resulted in more than 24 states becoming involved with sewing groups to assist in the provision of the sewn supplies for our distribution or for their own missionary efforts. This project is now in more than 24 nations. We have progressed into the empowering stage with our focus on training. In a community seminar called Beautiful Woman, we bring the truth that God loves women, women were created with purpose and 'It is good!" We follow the Beautiful Woman seminar with a half day session of the Training of Trainers where we use the EMPOWERMENT PACK to train women to make their own menstrual supplies. The TOOLKIT PACKAGE is a complete community/economic development package that fully trains and equips women to make their own supplies AND to train teams to go and do the training to their own Passion Place. A TOOLKIT PACKAGE can be 'planted' in each location to establish economic empowerment as well as skills training.
