I am a Nurse Educator/Infection Preventionist in a career in LTC who has fallen in love with the country of Haiti. The most impoverished area of Haiti-Cite’ Soleil has my heart. I first became involved with Samaritan’s Purse with the post 2010 earthquake Cholera epidemic . I provided care to hundreds of acutely ill patients at the spike of the epidemic. I returned annually for continued care at the Cite’ Soleil clinic where we continued to educate Haitian staff and patients on ongoing needs with infection control/prevention and intervention. As Samaritan’s Purse reduced their medical teams, I found a wonderful mission family with Haiti Outreach Ministries who provide ongoing care at the same Cite’ Soleil clinic! Our team has vowed to continue efforts in this area so badly in need of preventative health practices. I am also very active in ensuring education for several youth at risk in Cite’ Soleil and will do so as long as I am able.
