The Cahaba Family Medicine Residency is a 4-4-4 program focused on preparing you to serve the under-served. This is a mentorship based, procedurally robust opportunity for real-life practice experience as a "junior partner" in order to better prepare for a career in primary care medicine in rural or international settings. Residents have the opportunity to interact and treat a full-spectrum of patients from newborn to end-of-life, for both chronic diseases as well as preventive care and population health, and including family-centered maternity care and obstetrics, as well as the full-spectrum of procedures needed in rural and international settings. Cahaba Medical Care is a Federally Qualified Health Center and Teaching Health Center, partnered with both the local hospital, Bibb Medical Center, but also affiliated with the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine and William Carey University COM programs.
