The International Mission Board was formed as an agency of the Southern Baptist Convention at the time of its inception in 1845. Since that time it has been sending missionaries to all parts of the world. Today the IMB supports approximately 4000 personnel worldwide. Its task is to facilitate the sending of missionaries and the overseas mission efforts of over 42,000 Southern Baptist churches which it serves and represents.
