About the organization
Organization
Virginia Beach based, JAMSBooks started creating educational coloring books for third-world countries November, 2009. The books reach children via individuals, missionaries, medical professionals, clinics, medical mission teams and international relief organizations.
As of April, 2013, approximately 13,375 books have successfully reached children in:
Panama, Ghana, India, Nicaragua, Philippines, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Peru, Malawi, Honduras, Belize and the Himalayas.
Children's book author Jean Vinson teams up with illustrators to customize books for specific medical missions like parasite cleansing and burn avoidance. Her husband, Dr. Steve Vinson, a pediatrician experienced in medical missions, guided her to focus her skills on this effort given his success with distributing the coloring books. She and illustrator, Dawn Stephens, created the first book for Steve's colleague, Dr. Lisbet Hanson, for a parasite cleansing mission in Baptist, Haiti prior to the earthquake.
