OB.Medicos para la Familia

The Medicos Project is a design laboratory for the development of physicians who provide continuing comprehensive health care unrestricted by age, gender, pregnancy, and location of service. A product brand was established: Surgical Family Medicine Obstetrics. Medicos is bilingual- "Medicina Familiar Quirurgica: Obstetricίa/Ecografίa--De la maternidad a la ancianidad con niños siempre bienvenidos”. Physicians are available for deliveries and emergencies 24/7 365 days a year. To test the sustainability of independent ownership, government sponsorship was avoided. Grants and fund raising, which have been essential for the funding of primary care in universities, were not sought. As primary care became interchangeable with nursing, post residency fellowships became necessary to establish added value for physicians seeking to provide services in surgical obstetrics and ER.
